Assistant Civil Engineer (Treatment Plant)

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support design and build projects for treatment plant facilities. You will work closely with civil discipline leads, clients and contractors to produce safe, compliant designs and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Support civil discipline leads in delivering H&S excellence and complying with CDM Regulations and accepted codes of practice.
• Participate in design and discipline meetings, sharing cross‑discipline information.
• Produce technical deliverables, including hydraulic, structural and carbon calculations.
• Ensure all work meets Minimum Asset Standard (MAS) requirements and challenge where appropriate.
• Maintain quality and consistency of civil engineering documents and communicate technical expectations.
• Escalate time, cost or quality issues to the Lead Technical Manager before they become problems.
• Collaborate with other engineers and discipline leads to manage interfaces, gaps and best‑practice sharing.
• Provide design cost estimates, record design risks and assumptions, and ensure CDM responsibilities are met.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Minimum Asset Standard (MAS) requirements.
• Ability to produce accurate engineering calculations and technical documentation.
