About the role

The Area Manager – HDFC Relationship will lead the sales effort for Birla Sun Life Insurance across the assigned region, driving premium growth through strong partnerships with HDFC Bank channels. The role is responsible for achieving sales targets, managing a team of sales managers and ensuring smooth business processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Achieve annualized premium targets of INR 5‑10 crore per individual and overall vertical sales goals.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with HDFC Bank channel partners, mapping key decision‑makers and establishing regular review mechanisms.
  • Lead, coach and retain a team of 4‑5 sales managers, allocating responsibilities and monitoring performance.
  • Ensure smooth execution of sales processes, including policy issuance, complaint handling and expense management.
  • Communicate product, process and regulatory changes to partners and internal teams.
  • Maintain expense tracking, approve budget allocations and strive for cost efficiency.
  • Monitor persistency rates, aiming for 80% premium persistency and 13‑month rolling premium persistency.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in life‑insurance sales or channel‑partner management, preferably with banking relationships.
  • Strong track record of meeting or exceeding premium targets.
  • Ability to manage and develop a small sales team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
