Android SDE 1 – Software Development Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Android Software Development Engineer (SDE‑1) to join our fast‑moving mobile team. You will design, build, and maintain high‑quality Android applications that delight users while collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design scalable, robust app architecture.
• Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code, implementing new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and stability of the consumer app.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimise speed, responsiveness, and resource usage.
• Create technical documentation, design documents, API specs, and release notes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
• Stay current with Android development trends and continuously improve coding standards and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
• 1‑3 years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Kotlin (including Flow and coroutines).
• ANR detection and resolution.
• Memory‑leak detection and resolution.
• Dependency injection frameworks (Dagger, Hilt).
• Android SDK, Android Studio.
• Architecture components: MVVM, LiveData, Room, RecyclerView optimisation, Data Binding, View Binding.
• RESTful APIs, JSON, Protocol Buffers.
• Git version control and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins).
