Android Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Android Engineer to own two offline‑first Android applications – a Tamil‑first farmer app and a pilot app – that run on real handsets in remote fields where connectivity is scarce.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Farmer app: onboarding, consent, pin‑drop, field saving, booking, payment, invoicing, media proof and history.
• Own the Pilot app: offline job list, credential check‑in, custody capture, material draw, navigation, telemetry fallback, acreage and proof capture, collections and incident reporting.
• Manage releases, crash reporting and conflict resolution policy, ensuring server‑device sync with proper timestamps.
• Surface every conflict in an operations queue rather than silent resolution.
• Achieve eight hours of full offline operation across six jobs and synchronize within a three‑minute window on poor connections.
• Enable first‑time farmer booking in under four minutes, unaided.
• Maintain crash‑free sessions above 99.9 % on rugged devices and pilot handsets.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of native Android development with Kotlin.
• At least two published Android apps in production.
• Proven experience building offline‑first applications with sync, conflict handling and deletion semantics.
• Ability to describe a conflict bug you shipped and later fixed.
• Experience with versioning, signing and staged rollouts.
• Testing on a minimum of five real devices (no emulators).
