Algorithms Development Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Algorithms Development Manager to lead a high‑impact team that creates advanced computer‑vision, machine‑learning and image‑processing solutions for next‑generation semiconductor equipment. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership to deliver algorithms that directly influence customer success and business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of inspection and metrology algorithms for semiconductor wafer and advanced packaging applications.
• Define algorithm architecture, technical strategy and roadmaps aligned with product objectives.
• Guide performance optimisation for high‑throughput production systems using CPU, GPU and parallel computing.
• Establish robust methodologies for algorithm quality, benchmarking, validation and performance monitoring.
• Build, mentor and grow a high‑performing algorithm engineering team, handling hiring, onboarding and career development.

Required profile

• MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in algorithm development on large‑scale hardware‑centric systems.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience managing complex cross‑functional projects.
