About the role

Key responsibilities

• Develop, pre‑train, fine‑tune, and align large language models and generative models for scientific and materials‑science data, literature, and workflows.
• Innovate post‑training methods, alignment techniques, and evaluation protocols to ensure models are robust, accurate, and trustworthy for scientific use cases.
• Design generative approaches that accelerate materials discovery, hypothesis generation, and hardware design.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product leaders to identify high‑impact AI applications in materials science.
• Build and curate scientific datasets, benchmarks, and evaluation protocols for continuous model improvement.
• Stay current with advances in AI, machine learning, and materials science, and publish original research in top venues.
• Mentor junior team members and foster an inclusive, collaborative research culture.

Required profile

• Strong research background with technical leadership experience.
• MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.

Required skills

• Machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and generative AI applied to scientific domains.
• Hands‑on experience with LLM pre‑training, supervised fine‑tuning (SFT), and post‑training alignment (e.g., RLHF).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow frameworks.
• Ability to work with structured and unstructured scientific data (literature, experimental results, simulation outputs).
