AI Engineer – Generative AI & Backend Development

About the role

We are looking for an AI Engineer to join the BASF Digital Hub in Hyderabad. You will design and deliver generative AI solutions that enhance our product ecosystem, working closely with product teams in a fast‑moving, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services for AI applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Integrate large‑language‑model agents with frameworks such as OpenAI Agents SDK or LangChain.
• Apply prompt‑engineering techniques and manage conversation memory for multi‑turn interactions.
• Deploy and operate generative AI services on Azure Cloud, containerising applications with Docker.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and version control using GitHub.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into AI features.
• Monitor performance, cost and reliability, and continuously optimise the solutions.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Python for backend and AI development.
• Proficiency with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of LLM orchestration tools (OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain) and prompt engineering.
• Experience deploying applications to Azure Cloud and using Docker containers.
• Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and version control best practices.
