Accountant

About the role

Rize is building a digital platform to transform sustainable rice cultivation in Southeast Asia. The Accountant will support the finance team by managing day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close, tax compliance and audit processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting for a fast‑growing startup.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, expense accounting and journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank, vendor, customer and ledger reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial closing, preparing schedules, P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Prepare and submit GST, TDS and other statutory compliances, and assist with internal and external audits.
• Process vendor payments, track liabilities, and coordinate cash‑flow monitoring and bank reconciliations.
• Identify process gaps, suggest improvements and help automate finance workflows.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field; CA Inter, CMA or MBA Finance is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Indian accounting standards, GST and TDS.
• High attention to detail, ownership mindset and ability to work independently in a startup environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, NetSuite or SAP.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
