Virtual Medical Assistant – Front Desk, Scheduling & Insurance

About the role

We are seeking a Virtual Medical Assistant to provide front‑desk, scheduling, and insurance verification support for a growing U.S. gastroenterology practice. The role is fully remote and involves direct interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound patient calls, email, and text communications.
• Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate new‑patient visits, follow‑ups, procedures, and surgical appointments using eClinicalWorks.
• Support physicians and nurse practitioners with chart preparation, intake information, and documentation.
• Process prescription and medication refill requests according to clinic protocols.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, document benefits, and manage prior‑authorization requests.
• Track laboratory, pathology, and diagnostic results and route information to the appropriate team members.
• Document clinic workflows and help develop standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience supporting a U.S. medical practice.
• Experience performing both front‑desk/receptionist and medical‑assistant administrative tasks.
• Proficiency with eClinicalWorks (eCW) for scheduling and documentation.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance contacts.

What we offer

• Remote work with a consistent 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Central Time schedule.
• Hourly compensation of $5‑$6 per hour.
