Software Engineer – Java Spring Boot

About the role

Mastercard’s Payments Network Technology team is looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and support secure, scalable, and highly‑available payment‑network solutions. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka and cloud‑native practices to deliver modern micro‑services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain Java/Spring Boot micro‑services and REST APIs.
• Implement event‑driven integrations using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Apply object‑oriented design, SOLID principles, reusable patterns and secure coding standards.
• Create unit, component, integration and regression tests; participate in peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot application, data, messaging, performance and production issues.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, operational readiness, resiliency and automation.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, testing, operations and other engineering teams.
• Mentor less‑experienced team members and own complex work from analysis through production support.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot development.
• Experience building micro‑services, REST APIs and event‑driven architectures using Kafka.
• Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, containers and cloud‑native platforms.
• Understanding of secure, scalable, resilient and observable software design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in Agile delivery environments and the full software development lifecycle.
