Software Engineer II – Java & Microservices

About the role

The Software Engineer II will design and build scalable, cloud‑ready Java applications within Mastercard’s digital payments ecosystem. You will work independently on micro‑service components while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure high performance, security, and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into modular, extensible Java solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions and make design decisions for micro‑services.
• Develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs using Spring, Spring Boot, and JPA.
• Write unit, functional, and integration tests and apply secure coding practices.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering quality standards.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of production systems.
• Support applications throughout their lifecycle, including production troubleshooting.
• Research emerging technologies and contribute to proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
