Senior Staff Cloud Engineer - AWS

About the role

Senior Staff Cloud Engineer (AWS) will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Skylo's AWS‑based cloud infrastructure, shaping architecture, driving automation, and ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, cost‑efficient AWS architectures, defining best practices for compute, storage, and networking.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code initiatives (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and automate provisioning, scaling, and configuration management.
• Embed AWS security best practices, partner with security teams for compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR) and implement zero‑trust controls.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor, influencing long‑term cloud strategy and collaborating with product, security, and engineering teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of cloud engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on AWS.
• Proven expertise with core AWS services (EC2, EKS/ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, Route 53).
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and service‑mesh architectures.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity management.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Go, Bash) and observability tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, ELK).
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
