Senior Data Engineer (SAS, SQL, Python)

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will join the Customer Remediation team, using data engineering techniques to identify and resolve systemic issues affecting customers, such as pricing or compliance errors. Working in an Agile environment, you will support end‑to‑end remediation projects and help improve the financial wellbeing of ANZ’s customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform data wrangling and analytical activities to identify impacted customers and quantify remediation needs.
• Apply SAS and SQL expertise to extract, transform and load data across banking systems.
• Develop, test and implement technical solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to assess problems, document methodologies and estimate resource needs.
• Support achievement of financial targets while operating cost‑effectively.
• Promote continuous improvement, data governance and quality‑control processes.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in data engineering within the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable remediation plans.
• Experience working in Agile teams and delivering end‑to‑end solutions.
