Senior Avionics Software Developer

About the role

The Senior Avionics Software Developer will design and develop safety‑critical real‑time embedded software for avionics applications, adhering to DO‑178B/C standards. The role involves technical leadership, defining software architecture, and guiding a multidisciplinary team through both technical and process aspects.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead requirement engineering: gather system requirements, analyse and document software requirements.
• Understand and evolve the global software architecture (static and dynamic).
• Create high‑level and low‑level designs using HOOD, class definitions and UML diagrams.
• Perform coding, debugging and build generation efficiently.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and verification teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Troubleshoot issues from system, simulator, flight‑test, in‑service and AoG situations with internal and external teams.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers and partners.

Required profile

• More than 5 years of experience in the full software lifecycle for avionics, including requirements definition, design, coding and unit verification.
• Hands‑on experience with embedded software requirements engineering, architecture (static & dynamic), design and development of algorithms, interfaces, schedulers and modularisation.

Required skills

• Embedded programming in C, C++ and ADA.
• Real‑time operating systems (RTOS) and familiarity with A653 compliant RTOS.
• DO‑178B/C certification processes and configuration/change management.
• UML and HOOD modelling.
• Knowledge of avionics communication protocols such as ARINC 429, CAN and AFDX.
