Press Shop Production Manager

About the role

The Press Shop Production Manager will lead daily operations of the press shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and on‑time production of automotive components. Based in Chennai, this full‑time, on‑site position requires planning schedules, allocating resources, and monitoring machine performance to meet quality and delivery targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day press shop activities, supervising operators and technicians.
• Plan production schedules, allocate manpower and material resources, and monitor machine performance.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and resolve production issues to minimise downtime.
• Track key performance indicators, implement process improvements and waste reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with quality, design, and supply‑chain teams to optimise output.
• Enforce safety protocols, support audits, maintain documentation and drive continuous‑improvement projects on the shop floor.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of press‑shop operations, metal‑forming processes, tool and die management, and production planning.
• Experience in automotive component manufacturing and familiarity with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Proficiency in quality‑management practices such as SPC, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and basic problem‑solving tools.
• Ability to lead and supervise teams, manage shift operations and coordinate with cross‑functional departments.
• Capability to interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and technical specifications.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Production Engineering or a related field; relevant press‑shop experience preferred.
