About the role
Do you want to make the world a better place for underwriters? Ethos is seeking a dynamic, hands‑on Life Underwriting Manager to lead a growing team and drive high‑quality underwriting outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Perform case underwriting for approximately 50% of the role’s time.
- Lead, mentor and develop domestic and international underwriting staff, overseeing hiring, onboarding and performance management.
- Design and improve underwriting training programs and quality‑control systems.
- Optimize underwriting workflows, implement rules in the underwriting engine, and collaborate on quality‑assurance testing.
Required profile
- 8+ years of life underwriting experience (U.S. underwriting preferred).
- 5+ years in an underwriting leadership or development role.
- Relevant underwriting certifications such as LOMA or ALU.
Required skills
- Strong data‑oriented decision‑making abilities.
- Deep knowledge of life‑insurance trends and emerging technologies.
