Legal Counsel – Global Center of Excellence (Mumbai)

About the role

Siemens is establishing a Global Center of Excellence in India to provide unified legal support for complex commercial projects and to drive governance for its global data strategy. The Legal Counsel will be based in Mumbai and will work within Siemens’ Legal team, partnering with business leaders worldwide at the intersection of law, technology and AI.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions, providing risk assessments and bid support.
• Partner with commercial teams, contract managers and global legal colleagues to advise on strategic transactions and harmonise contracting processes.
• Develop domain expertise in data centres, sustainability, energy transition and emerging technology‑driven industries, delivering scalable legal knowledge.
• Contribute to legal AI and digital transformation initiatives by identifying, testing and scaling AI‑enabled solutions.
• Support contract intelligence, knowledge‑management and governance projects to generate business insights.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer from a recognised common‑law jurisdiction (India, US, England & Wales, Singapore, etc.).
• At least five years of post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm or in‑house legal function.
• Proven experience with commercial contracts, technology transactions, SaaS agreements and international business environments.

Required skills

• Strong commercial judgment and business‑focused legal expertise.
• Ability to work across borders and collaborate with global stakeholders.
