Lead Power Electronics Hardware Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Power Electronics Hardware Engineer to drive the design, development, and validation of low‑voltage and medium‑voltage variable speed drives (VSD/VFD). The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on engineering to deliver reliable, cost‑effective hardware solutions for industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end design of LV/MV drive hardware, including AC/DC power stages, filters, loss budgeting, earth and protection circuits, and arc‑flash calculations.
• Perform sizing, simulation, and validation of drives and filters using industry‑standard tools.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation such as configurations, operation principles, application guidelines, BOMs, single‑line diagrams, and detailed drawings.
• Verify prototype performance under all specified operating conditions and conduct functional testing per UL/IEC standards.
• Support manufacturing at factory or vendor sites, including creation of functional test requirements and execution of Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Collaborate continuously with system engineers, program managers, and project managers; travel as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power‑electronics design and testing for industrial drives.
• Strong communication skills, ability to mentor a team, and comfort working in a matrixed, multicultural environment.
• Self‑starter attitude with a proactive approach to change and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Power electronics hardware design (LV/MV drives, AC/DC systems)
• Drive and filter sizing, loss budget calculations
• Earth & protection circuit design, arc‑flash analysis, root‑cause analysis (RCA)
• Use of AUTOCAD or E‑Plan for electrical schematics
• MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation
• Knowledge of motor and drive control systems
• Functional testing and FAT execution according to UL/IEC standards
