Human Resources Operations Specialist

About the role

The HR Operations Specialist supports core HR processes at Appian, focusing on onboarding, employee data management and lifecycle operations. Based in Chennai, the role serves North America or EMEA teams, requiring flexibility across time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Support onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a seamless experience.
• Process Form I‑9 verification and conduct background checks in line with compliance standards.
• Manage global new‑hire swag program and handle voluntary and involuntary terminations.
• Execute employee lifecycle transactions in Workday (hires, job changes, transfers, terminations) with accurate data.
• Prepare and distribute employee correspondence such as job change letters.
• Respond to employee and stakeholder inquiries via HR inbox and ticketing systems.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits and HR Business Partners to resolve issues.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to HR Operations projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience in HR Operations, onboarding or employee services.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems; experience with Workday is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, data accuracy and confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills in a fast‑paced, global environment.
