Head of Legal – India

About the role

The Head of Legal for Alfa Laval India will lead the legal and compliance function, shaping strategies that align with business objectives. This senior position acts as a trusted advisor to the leadership team across contracts, regulatory matters, M&A, IP and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal expertise on commercial contracts, R&D, product liability, mergers & acquisitions and intellectual property.
• Act as a strategic business partner, identifying legal risks and opportunities to support growth.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve legal policies, templates and supporting tools.
• Drive compliance in Export Control, Sanctions, Anti‑Bribery, Fair Competition and Data Privacy, strengthening governance frameworks.
• Manage disputes and litigation in coordination with external counsel, mitigating risk.
• Oversee company secretarial duties and CSR initiatives to meet statutory and sustainability goals.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of relevant legal experience in‑house or private practice.
• LL.B. or higher; qualified Company Secretary (ACS/FCS) preferred.
• Proven track record negotiating high‑value commercial contracts with multinational organisations.
• Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management and ability to lead a high‑performing legal team.
