Financial Systems Internal Controls Specialist

About the role

Zinnia is looking for a Financial Systems Internal Controls Specialist to strengthen the internal control environment across its financial systems and related business processes. You will collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, Information Security, and Audit teams to document processes, assess risks, test controls, and support remediation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead process walkthroughs with accounting, finance, technology, and business stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain process narratives, flowcharts, SOPs, data‑flow diagrams, and risk‑control matrices.
• Evaluate control design and effectiveness, perform tests of control design and operating effectiveness.
• Document test procedures, select samples, inspect evidence, record exceptions, and prepare testing conclusions.
• Analyze control exceptions, perform root‑cause analysis, and assist owners in creating remediation plans.
• Track remediation activities, conduct follow‑up testing, and confirm corrective actions.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating walkthroughs, evidence requests, and remediation updates.
• Participate in financial system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and process changes to embed control requirements.
• Review system roles, approval workflows, configurations, data conversions, and testing results from a risk perspective.
• Develop training materials and guide control owners on documentation and evidence retention.
• Identify opportunities to automate controls, monitoring, evidence collection, and testing procedures.

Required profile

• Professional experience in internal controls, audit, or financial systems.
• Ability to understand complex systems and processes, identify risks, and propose practical solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
