Customer Engineer – Installation & Service

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Customer Engineer / Installation Engineer to join its field service team in Bangalore. You will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment while using digital analytics for troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Participate in projects and assignments that support organizational goals.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 2–5 years of experience in customer/field service support or a related technical field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time within the APAC region.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and customer protocol requirements.

Required skills

• Digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
• Basic diagnostic techniques for electrical, mechanical and plasma systems.
• Knowledge of electrical, vacuum, hydraulic, gas and pneumatic systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
