Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate cash handling, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and provides courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain corresponding system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure vault operations are coordinated with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, promote cross‑selling opportunities and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, bank policies and regulatory requirements for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking or finance background preferred.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Cash handling and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of banking instruments and transaction processing.
• Familiarity with branch vault operations.
