Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier role is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The position supports smooth branch functioning by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments while providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, reconcile transactions, and prepare end‑of‑day branch reports.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash department with the Operations Officer.
• Provide accurate information to customers about repayment dates, product offerings, and alternate channels for transactions.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• High level of integrity and attention to detail when handling cash and records.
• Strong numeracy skills and ability to perform accurate reconciliations.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation with the ability to address queries and educate clients.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and follow established procedures.
