Backend Python Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Python Engineer to join Anaplan’s platform team. The role involves designing, building and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs that power our AI‑infused scenario‑planning platform. You will work with a cross‑functional group of developers, architects and DevOps engineers to deliver production‑grade solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
• Build and maintain REST APIs with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Write clean, modular, well‑tested production code.
• Design and optimise database interactions with PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar relational databases.
• Implement asynchronous programming, background jobs, queues and caching where required.
• Troubleshoot performance, latency, memory and production issues.
• Implement authentication, authorization, API security, logging and error handling.
• Containerise applications using Docker.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test and deployment.
• Deploy and support applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, OCI or GCP.
• Work with Linux environments, networking, configuration and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, architects, QA and DevOps teams.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on Python development experience.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, exception handling, concurrency and asynchronous programming.
• Experience building production‑grade backend applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, containers and CI/CD.
• Ability to work in Linux environments and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
