Assistant Manager – Mechanical Design for Special Purpose Machines

About the role

Study customer requirements and develop machine concepts and system specifications for special‑purpose, process, assembly and testing machines. Lead mechanical design activities to deliver robust, cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor and create detailed drawings and specifications.
• Analyze and optimise designs for cost, manufacturability and performance, including stress analysis and engineering calculations.
• Maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, drawings and test plans.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements and resolve issues.
• Implement cost‑saving initiatives, design improvements and ensure compliance with ISO audits, CE safety norms and UL standards.

Required profile

• B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–4 years of experience in designing special‑purpose, process, assembly or testing machines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D modelling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
• FEA analysis using Inventor or Ansys.
• Statistical tolerance calculations and GD&T.
• Knowledge of automation technologies for the automotive industry, manufacturing processes, materials, heat‑treatment and surface‑treatment.
• Familiarity with industry standards, codes and regulations.
