Staff Level II Accountant - 1040 HNI Tax

About the role

Withum is seeking a Staff Level II Accountant to join its Tax Services Group. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing a variety of U.S. tax returns for high‑net‑worth individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Individual tax returns (Form 1040) and Trust returns (Form 1041).
• Handle multi‑state returns and international reporting forms such as FINCEN Form 114, Form 8938, Forms 5471 and 5472.
• Assist with Business tax returns including C‑Corp (Form 1120) and Partnership (Form 1065) when required.
• Review tax workpapers, interpret 1099s, Schedule E, Schedule K‑1, wash‑sale rules, HUD statements and multi‑state adjustments.
• Manage end‑to‑end tax compliance, meet processing deadlines, and achieve billing targets.
• Collaborate with team members, support multiple tax processes, and contribute to team bonding activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of U.S. tax experience in a public accounting firm or industry role.
• Substantial exposure to U.S. tax reporting and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
• Good understanding of GAAP and U.S. tax laws.
