Software Engineer, Payments

About the role

Google's Payments team builds secure, seamless payment experiences for billions of users. As a Software Engineer you will contribute to core payment products such as Autofill, tap‑and‑pay, and the Google Pay app, working on both consumer‑facing features and internal money‑movement systems.

Key responsibilities

• Write high‑quality product or system development code for payment services.
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select appropriate technologies.
• Review code from other developers, ensuring adherence to style guidelines, testability, and efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance documentation or educational content, updating it based on product changes and user feedback.
• Triage, debug, and resolve product or system issues, analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms (minimum 2 years).
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
