Pharmacy Support Worker – Acute & Mental Health

About the role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Pharmacy Support Worker, helping to ensure medicines reach patients safely and on time across acute and mental health sites. Working on‑site at Gartnavel General Hospital, you will be part of a dedicated Pharmacy Services team delivering high‑quality pharmaceutical care.

Key responsibilities

• Support the supply, dispensing and distribution of medicines to wards, departments and patients.
• Deliver ward top‑up services, maintaining appropriate stock levels and storage.
• Process medicine requisitions, emergency requests and stock replenishment accurately.
• Receive, check and receipt pharmaceutical stock while maintaining inventory records.
• Provide excellent customer service to healthcare colleagues, patients and suppliers.
• Support safe handling, storage and management of medicines in line with legislation.
• Use pharmacy and IT systems to maintain records and support dispensing activities.

Required profile

• Educated to National 5/Standard Grade level or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a healthcare, pharmacy or customer‑facing environment.
• Willingness to work towards relevant Pharmacy Services SVQ training.
• Strong commitment to delivering safe, accurate pharmaceutical services.

Required skills

• Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
