Mechanical Engineer – Design for Manufacturing (DFM)

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer you will leverage a strong foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design and implement custom tooling, and support the handling, assembly and disassembly of components throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and DFX initiatives to improve product quality, yield and assembly efficiency.
• Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and suppliers to resolve build issues and ensure product readiness.
• Review drawings, assemblies, specifications and BOMs to identify tolerancing risks and opportunities for simplification.
• Lead resolution of supplier deviations, NCRs and manufacturing non‑conformances.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8‑12 years of experience in semiconductor equipment or related manufacturing roles.
• Strong expertise in DFM, DFX, manufacturability assessments and manufacturing readiness reviews.
• Hands‑on knowledge of precision‑machined components, sheet‑metal fabrications, castings, plastics, ceramics and electro‑mechanical assemblies.

Required skills

• NX, Creo and PLM tools such as Windchill or Teamcenter.
• aPriori, DFMPro or similar manufacturability assessment tools.
• GD&T, tolerance optimization and drawing interpretation.
• DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP and PPAP processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
