Legal Head – Construction & Real Estate (Goa)

About the role

The Legal Head will lead all legal, regulatory and compliance activities for construction and real‑estate projects across Goa. You will safeguard operations by ensuring adherence to central and state regulations, handling land acquisition, RERA compliance, contracts, approvals and dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct end‑to‑end land due diligence, including title verification, mutation records, tenancy checks and conversion of land under local statutes.
• Secure timely statutory approvals under Goa Town Country Planning Act, Land Revenue Code, RERA, BOCW, Pollution Control Board, Fire Safety and CRZ norms.
• Draft, review and negotiate construction contracts, EPC agreements, subcontractor and vendor agreements while managing risks of delays, penalties and variations.
• Represent the company in civil courts, arbitration, labour tribunals and other legal forums; coordinate with external counsel.
• Oversee labour compliance under Contract Labour Act, BOCW Act, Shops & Establishments Act and minimum wages regulations.
• Monitor legal risks, conduct periodic site audits and align corporate policies with state and central requirements.
• Lead internal legal staff and external counsel, provide training on contract compliance and advise senior management on strategic decisions.

Required profile

• LLB degree (mandatory); LLM preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in construction/real‑estate law in Goa or the western region of India.
• Proven track record in land acquisition, statutory approvals and arbitration or litigation cases.
