Legal Counsel – Corporate Banking

About the role

The Legal Counsel will support the bank’s large corporate, wholesale banking, structured deals and trade finance businesses. You will provide legal advice, draft and negotiate agreements, and manage legal risks across a range of banking products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard agreements, templates and legal guidelines for banking products.
• Provide legal support to business lines, HR, finance, compliance and other functions.
• Conduct due‑diligence, identify risk areas and recommend mitigation strategies for deals and transactions.
• Coordinate with external counsel, draft litigation documents and manage pre‑litigation disputes.
• Monitor regulatory changes, advise on corporate governance and support branches, subsidiaries and affiliates.
• Assist in structuring, negotiating and executing third‑party agreements and new product launches.
• Analyze contractual risks in credit and other agreements to protect the bank’s interests.

Required profile

• LL.B degree from a Tier I or II law school.
• 5‑8 years of corporate legal experience, preferably in banking or top NBFCs.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, corporate governance and transaction law.
