Lead Architect

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Lead Architect to drive the design of advanced facilities across pharmaceutical, FMCG, and micro‑electronics sectors. You will translate complex process requirements into functional, compliant, and sustainable facility layouts that support cutting‑edge research and production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop schematic layouts that integrate process equipment based on PFDs and process data.
• Perform space planning, ensuring logical flow of personnel, materials, washing, and waste streams.
• Generate multiple design options with limited client input and guide clients toward the most effective solution.
• Ensure all designs meet GMP standards and satisfy validation requirements of regulatory agencies.
• Design facilities for plasma fractionation, cell and gene therapy, biopharma, vaccines, hormones, monoclonal antibodies, and therapeutic enzymes.
• Lead design of micro‑electronics facilities such as OSATs, FAB buildings, and associated utilities.
• Present concepts, material‑handling strategies, utility options, and site master plans to clients and secure buy‑in.
• Incorporate safety‑in‑design principles beyond statutory norms.
• Champion sustainability initiatives and coordinate responsibilities across disciplines and stakeholders.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience designing advanced facilities for pharmaceutical, FMCG, or micro‑electronics industries.
• Proven ability to produce compliant, validated designs under GMP requirements.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and influence client decisions.
• Capacity to work independently during feasibility, concept, and basic design phases.
