Junior Service Engineer – Locomotive Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Junior Service Engineer to support the maintenance of high‑power locomotives (4500 HP and 6000 HP) at our Siliguri shed. You will ensure scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities are performed on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and supervise scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair tasks for locomotives.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support warranty management.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, safety procedures and clean work environments.
• Comply with local regulations and customer safety policies.
• Collaborate with customer staff to meet performance KPIs for the Siliguri shed.
• Guide customer technicians and implement best practices.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7+ years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience operating and training on HVT wheel‑turning machines.
• Prior experience in the transportation industry.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors and control systems.
• Ability to analyse and troubleshoot locomotive faults.
• Comfort with IT systems for locomotive monitoring and maintenance.
