Head of Tax – Corporate & Investment Banking

About the role

The Head of Tax will lead the tax function for Crédit Agricole CIB India, providing strategic advisory and ensuring full compliance with Indian tax regulations. This senior position reports to senior management and works closely with business units, regulators and external advisors.

Key responsibilities

• Advising group entities on Indian direct and indirect tax compliance, including GST, RBI, FATCA and AEOI.
• Monitoring tax law developments and communicating implications to management and operations.
• Optimising tax flows, managing tax risk and overseeing statutory filings such as WHT returns and deposit details.
• Representing the bank before tax and appellate authorities, handling notices and appeals.
• Ensuring proper utilisation of GST input credit and evaluating new products from a tax perspective.
• Preparing head‑office tax reporting, tax provision calculations (deferred and advance tax) and maintaining digitised tax documentation.
• Liaising with regulators, internal departments and external tax advisors, including transfer‑pricing documentation and functional analysis.
• Managing FATCA/AEOI submissions and reviewing tax clauses in standard client contracts.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Indian tax law, covering direct tax, GST, FATCA and transfer pricing.
• Proven ability to lead tax compliance, risk management and regulatory reporting for a large financial institution.
• Strong communication skills to interact with senior management, regulators and external advisors.
• Track record of handling tax audits, appeals and complex tax advisory projects.
