Data Engineering Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineering Lead to head our in‑house Data Foundation products. You will work closely with product owners, architects and DataOps teams to translate business needs into robust data solutions while driving engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of data engineers in designing, building and maintaining scalable, reliable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Oversee technical architecture, conduct code, design and testing reviews, and ensure best‑practice deployment processes.
• Act as an individual contributor (≈60% of time) developing core data solutions using Azure and Python technologies.
• Monitor and optimise data infrastructure performance, resolve bottlenecks, and implement logging/monitoring.
• Mentor, hire, onboard and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Drive cross‑functional technical discussions, represent the data domain in broader architecture forums, and manage technical debt.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of IT experience, including 7‑8 years in data engineering.
• 3‑4 years of experience leading teams and managing stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Required skills

• Azure cloud data services (Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Table, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps).
• Python, PySpark and SQL.
• Data modelling and architecture, ETL pipeline design.
• Logging and monitoring using Azure/Databricks services.
• Apache Kafka.
