Dam Safety Specialist (International Expert)

About the role

The Dam Safety Specialist (International Expert) will act as the primary authority on dam safety across all project activities. Based in Delhi, the role involves overseeing safety assessments, inspections, and quality assurance for large‑scale dam projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the nodal expert reviewing dam safety aspects throughout project execution.
• Conduct construction supervision and quality assurance (CS&QA) visits and prepare official transmittals.
• Perform dam safety inspections and provide expert opinions on safety concerns.
• Review rehabilitation plans for DRIP dams and assess construction quality, QC systems, and QA processes.
• Design and deliver customized training modules and lectures for implementing agencies.
• Contribute to the development and updating of dam safety guidelines and manuals.
• Participate as a domain expert in the DHARMA updating team.
• Provide input for the project MIS and official website.
• Lead Training‑of‑Trainers (TOT) programs and assist in creating the annual training calendar.
• Ensure rapid compliance with urgent dam safety matters as directed by the Project Director.
• Engage in additional dam safety activities as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, safety evaluation, and dam design.
• Proven involvement in at least five large dam projects.
• Experience preparing safety guidelines, manuals, and remedial measures.
