Band 5 Staff Nurse – Elderly Medicine (34.5 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking two Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the Department of Medicine for the Elderly on a 34.5‑hour week. The role offers the chance to provide high‑quality care to older patients within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to elderly patients in the medicine department.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in line with NHS standards.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and administer medications as prescribed.
• Participate in ward rounds, handovers and quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) – essential.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (right to work or eligible for sponsorship).
• Commitment to the NHS values of compassion, kindness, integrity, teamwork and excellence.
• Willingness to work in elderly care; prior experience is desirable but not mandatory as training will be provided.

Required skills

• Basic clinical nursing competencies as defined for Band 5 nurses.
