Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Cancer & Palliative Care

About the role

The NHS Borders Pharmacy team is expanding its cancer service at Borders General Hospital. We are seeking an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join a multidisciplinary day‑case Cancer and Palliative Care team, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred pharmaceutical care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services to oncology and palliative‑care patients.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based, cost‑effective prescribing protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medication safety and outcomes.
• Contribute to service development, innovation and professional mentorship within the SCAN network.
• Support prescribing activities, including independent prescribing where appropriate.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Independent Prescribing qualification.
• Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical pharmacy, preferably in oncology or palliative care.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.
