Skilled Technician – Level II (Manufacturing Automation)

About the role

The Skilled Technician – Level II provides hands‑on technical support for manufacturing operations, ensuring that electrical, automation, robotics and industrial control systems run safely and efficiently. Working with limited supervision, the technician applies Cummins health, safety and environmental standards while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance on production equipment to maximise uptime.
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems, PLCs, control panels, drives, motion systems and automation equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, machine drawings and technical manuals.
• Program, modify and upgrade Siemens S7‑1500 PLCs using the TIA Portal.
• Support and troubleshoot industrial robots (ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, Universal Robots) and cobots.
• Maintain motion and drive systems from Siemens and Festo, and ensure communication via PROFINET, OPC UA and TCP/IP.
• Inspect, calibrate and service assembly tools such as Atlas Copco nut runners and Tohnichi torque tools.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and contribute to preventive‑maintenance planning.
• Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and other continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Technical background with experience in electrical and automation maintenance.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to HSE and quality procedures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a focus on reliability and safety.
• Willingness to engage in continuous‑improvement activities.
