Senior Jewelry Designer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Jewelry Designer to lead the creative vision for Mookuthi’s collection of contemporary nose ornaments. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from cultural research and concept sketching to delivering production‑ready specifications for artisans and manufacturing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Draw inspiration from South Indian temple jewellery, textiles, architecture, nature and contemporary trends.
• Research the cultural significance of Mookuthi, spending time with artisans to understand traditional techniques.
• Build structured mood boards that convey story, motif language and material palette.
• Generate early forms, rough sketches and silhouette studies that translate mood boards into wearable designs.
• Create detailed design documentation and clean design decks for internal review.
• Present concepts to the founder, incorporate feedback and obtain final approval.
• Collaborate with the CAD Designer to test construction feasibility and refine technical drawings.
• Bridge design‑to‑manufacture gaps, specifying fit, weight, stone placement and mechanisms.
• Travel to artisan workshops, brief karigars and manufacturing partners, and review prototypes against design intent.
• Coordinate with quality control for approvals, rework and inventory of repaired pieces.
• Maintain design and merchandising consistency across the Mookuthi line.

Required profile

• Detail‑obsessed and self‑driven with a passion for South Indian heritage.
• Comfortable presenting concepts to senior leadership and working hands‑on in artisan workshops.
• Strong visual storytelling ability and an eye for commercial viability.
• Ability to manage end‑to‑end design execution and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for jewellery design.
