Senior Healthcare Support Worker – Orthopaedic Team

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our Orthopaedic Nursing Team at NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital. You will work closely with Registered Nurses and a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care throughout the orthopaedic pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Support Registered Nurses with personal care, skin care, nutrition and hydration assistance.
• Monitor and record routine clinical observations (BP, temperature, pulse, SpO₂, glucose).
• Assist with admissions, discharges and patient transfers under RN supervision.
• Perform enhanced duties such as venepuncture, ECG recording, wound care, MRSA screening and urinalysis.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and support housekeeping duties.
• Provide clerical, portering and administrative assistance as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for better patient outcomes.

Required profile

• SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Experience in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic IT competence.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Understanding of Data Protection, Caldicott principles and patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
