Porter/Driver – General Services (Band 22)

About the role

The NHS Borders General Hospital is seeking a reliable Porter/Driver to support patient care and hospital operations. Working 15 hours per week on a permanent basis, you will provide essential portering services across wards, departments and office areas, and occasionally undertake driving duties to facilitate patient discharges and urgent transports.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver portering duties within wards, departments and office areas as instructed.
• Assist with patient discharge flow and urgent transport requests by driving when required.
• Perform domestic activities such as cleaning, waste handling and equipment movement.
• Work scheduled weekend shifts and early Monday shifts.
• Adhere to NHS Borders Behavioural Framework and organisational priorities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in domestic and logistical tasks.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends.
• Knowledge of NHS Borders policies and procedures.
• Ability to obtain any required criminal records checks and PVG registration.
