MYP & DP English Teacher

About the role

The school seeks an experienced English teacher to deliver the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The role involves planning rigorous, inquiry‑based lessons that develop students’ language, literature and critical‑thinking abilities in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging IB MYP and DP English lessons, covering language and literature.
• Design unit and lesson plans, learning activities and assessment tasks aligned with IB curriculum requirements.
• Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical‑thinking skills through inquiry, discussion and creative expression.
• Apply differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and assess work using MYP/DP criteria.
• Maintain accurate records of formative and summative assessments and monitor progress.
• Support MYP project work and DP extended‑essay supervision, guiding research, referencing and academic writing.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and communicate regularly with parents and staff.
• Participate in IB professional development, school events and co‑curricular activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, English Literature, Education or related field; B.Ed. or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB school or a recognised curriculum such as Cambridge, IGCSE, CBSE or ICSE.
• Strong knowledge of English language and literature and ability to implement inquiry‑based learning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, classroom‑management and student‑engagement skills.
• Proficiency with educational technology to support teaching and assessment.

Required skills

• Understanding of IB MYP and DP curriculum, assessment and inquiry frameworks.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide academic remediation.
• Experience with project‑based learning, extended‑essay supervision and interdisciplinary collaboration.
