About the role
The Lead LV Protection Engineer will own the delivery of protection solutions for high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) projects and related substations. You will translate customer requirements into robust protection strategies, ensuring system reliability and compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Capture and analyse customer requirements for protection systems.
- Define protection strategy and design for HVDC projects and substations.
- Perform power‑flow calculations, short‑circuit analysis, and instrumentation studies.
- Review and support creation of single‑line diagrams and schematics for the protection scope.
- Prepare comprehensive calculation notes for the full protection system.
- Develop test strategies, detailed test plans, and supervise execution of protection tests.
- Lead and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for protection equipment.
- Coordinate with project managers, technical experts, site teams, and equipment suppliers.
- Monitor cabinet manufacturing and supervise FAT activities.
- Investigate technical issues, define corrective actions, and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of control systems on site.
- Respond to customer comments on technical submittals and participate in technical meetings.
