Junior Service Engineer – Locomotive Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Junior Service Engineer to support the maintenance and repair of high‑power locomotives (4500 HP and 6000 HP) at our Siliguri shed. You will ensure that scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities are completed on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair tasks for locomotives.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support warranty management.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, safety standards and local regulations.
• Maintain clean, orderly work areas and promote a safe environment.
• Collaborate with customer personnel to meet performance KPIs for the Siliguri shed.
• Guide customer technicians and implement best practices.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant diploma with 7+ years of locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance experience.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shifts.
• Experience in a shop environment and the transportation industry.
• Prior experience operating and training on HVT wheel‑turning machines.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot locomotive faults.
• Comfort with adopting IT systems for locomotive monitoring.
