Junior Legal Counsel – India & Southeast Asia

About the role

August Energy is looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to support its renewable energy and integrated utilities‑as‑a‑service operations across India and Southeast Asia. Reporting to the Legal Counsel – India & SEA, you will gain hands‑on experience across the full project lifecycle, from development to financing, construction and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review routine commercial and project contracts such as NDAs, vendor agreements, land documents and ancillary agreements.
• Assist in negotiating PPAs, EPC/O&M contracts and support M&A and financing due diligence, including data‑room management.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to project teams, track contractual obligations, conditions precedent and milestones.
• Monitor regulatory developments in the energy and infrastructure sectors and prepare concise summaries.
• Conduct jurisdiction‑specific legal research, manage external counsel and advise on contentious matters.
• Support implementation of company policies on anti‑bribery, sanctions compliance, ESG standards and sustainability commitments.
• Coordinate with regional legal counsel and external advisors to facilitate cross‑border knowledge sharing and investor relations.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years post‑qualification experience in corporate and commercial law.
• Exposure to energy, infrastructure or related sectors is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a proactive, execution‑focused mindset.
