Java Engineer – Microservices Developer

About the role

ANZ is looking for a Java Engineer to strengthen its Microservices capabilities within the Tech Pacific Domain. You will work closely with Lead Engineers and Chief Analyst Programmers to modernise the platform, align with future architecture, and support the bank’s digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Accelerate delivery by reducing technical debt and improving platform health.
• Design solutions and set technical direction for micro‑service based applications.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to translate requirements into robust designs.
• Lead API development and integration using REST/JSON, Kafka and message queues.
• Automate build, test and deployment pipelines and promote a learning culture.
• Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong background in micro‑services architecture and API design.
• Hands‑on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to work in a hybrid team environment.
