Health Emergency Preparedness Officer

About the role

The World Health Organization India Country Office is seeking a Health Emergency Preparedness Officer to provide strategic technical support to the Government of India and the Health Security and Emergency team. The role focuses on strengthening emergency medical relief, outbreak investigation, and disaster risk management across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning and response for mass‑gathering events and national rapid response teams.
• Facilitate joint monitoring group meetings and coordinate multi‑sectoral emergency operations.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of national health emergency policies and the International Health Regulations.
• Provide technical guidance on incident management, logistics, and operational support.
• Assist in strengthening partnerships and coordination mechanisms with national and international stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in public health, epidemiology, disaster management or a related field.
• Experience working with government agencies or international organizations on health emergencies.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and manage complex projects.
