Director of Human Resources – India

About the role

Avathon is seeking a Director of Human Resources for its Bangalore hub to lead regional People operations and talent strategy. The role will serve as a strategic HR leader, partnering with US HR leadership and local executives to align talent strategies, culture, and organizational structures with corporate objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Bridge global and regional strategy by partnering with US HR leadership and local executive management.
• Design and execute data‑driven retention initiatives, employee recognition programs, and engagement frameworks tailored to the Bangalore technology market.
• Facilitate local execution of global performance review cycles, promotion calibration sessions, and 9‑box talent reviews.
• Ensure statutory compliance, POSH requirements, workplace policies, and immigration/visa logistics in coordination with corporate legal counsel.
• Optimize total rewards by benchmarking and implementing competitive compensation, incentive, and equity models for the local market.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a multinational technology environment, with at least 3 years in a senior manager or director role.
• Proven expertise in strategic workforce planning, career framework design, L&D program execution, and employee retention strategies within high‑growth tech companies in India.
• Deep knowledge of Indian labor laws, statutory compliance, POSH guidelines, and regional benefit administration.
• Experience reporting directly to US/overseas leadership and collaborating across global time zones in a matrixed organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or HR certifications (SHRM‑SCP, SPHRi) preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with strong analytical abilities to leverage HR metrics for executive decision‑making.
